AUDITIONS
Auditions for the DLT Annual Children and Youth Theatre production of the holiday comedy The Best Christmas Pageant Ever are set for Sunday, October 4 from 2-4 p.m. at DLT and Monday, October 5 from 6-7:30. Auditions are open to children and teenagers. There are a number of roles for old young people (middle school and high school age) along with children 5-12 years of age. Children must be able to read and memorize lines. There are a limited number of roles for non-speaking children. No advance preparation is or previous experience is required. The production will rehearse thru October and November with performances December4th, 5th, and 6th, 2009.

Auditions for Cole Porter’s Anything Goes
Anything Goes is a musical with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The story concerns madcap antics aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. Billy Crocker is a stowaway in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and Public Enemy #13 Moonface Martin aid Billy in his quest to win Hope. The musical introduced such songs as "Anything Goes," "You're the Top," and "I Get a Kick Out of You."
Auditions will be at Dalton Little Theatre on April 25th at 1:00 and 26th at 3:00. There will be a cold reading from the script. Please bring a song to sing. If you need accompaniment, please bring it on a CD, but it is not required.

Directed by Bethany Richmond and Helen Crawford, this comedy features clever, contemporary, and anything but conventional fast-pased humor.

Call for directors 2009 season
Dalton Little Theatre is seeking directors and producers for the 2009-2010 season. No directing experience is required, however familiarity with the theatre on-stage and/or backstage, especially in community theatre is helpful. Individuals may direct a show of their choice (pending approval from the Board of Directors Script Committee) or choose to direct a show selected by the theatre.
Dalton Little Theatre seeks to stage comedies, dramas, new theatrical works, and musicals along with Reader’s Theatre events, and Children And Youth Theatre productions.

Kling, Parrott and Cole Honored
Dalton Little Theatre congratulates Grace Kling, Josh Parrott, and Cordell Cole for their recent accomplishments at the Georgia High School Association’s One Act Play Competitions.
Josh and Grace appeared in the Dalton High School production of A Midsummer Nights Dream. Josh, a freshman making his first appearance in the High School Competition, won Best Actor. Grace won All Star Cast in the Sub-Region. Cordell appeared in the Southeast High School production of All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten and was also selected for the All Star Cast.
Josh, Grace, and Cordell have been seen before on the DLT stage, and we are very proud to call them part of the DLT family.
Both Grace and Cordell are part of the cast for the upcoming DLT production of A Holiday Dream.
All three performances can be seen during the DLT One-Act High School Invitational on December 6.
Born Yesterday Auditions
Auditions for Born Yesterday, directed by Ron Houston, are scheduled for Friday, November 21, 6:30 - 8:00 a.m. and Saturday, November 22, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon.
This comedy has parts for 13 men and women of various ages. Auditions will consist of readings from the script.
The show will run January 29, 30, 31, February 1, 5, 6, and 7. February 1 will be a Sunday 2:00 p.m. show; the rest are 8:00 p.m.

Here is Dalton Little Theatre's very own Bob Parker climbing the ladder of success!
Actually Bob built the ladder that was integral to the success of our recent production, My Three Angels. In addition to all the work Bob puts in to maintaining our building as Chair of our Buildings Committee, he also volunteers backstage. Bob will tell you that "no experience is necessary" when it comes to volunteering at DLT-just a willingness to jump in and have fun. Bob is with Shaw Industries,a sponsor of Dalton Little Theatre, and is truly a one-of-a-kind volunteer and member.
A Holiday Dream, directed by Tammy Rice-Rodriguez
Dalton Little Theatre is pleased to announce the cast for this year's Children and Youth Holiday Production. The show, A Holiday Dream, directed by Tammy Rice-Rodriguez, is the story of Tim (Tiny Tim of A Christmas Carol fame) and his Christmas Eve adventures in storybook land. The DLT Holiday Show is Dalton's newest holiday tradition for the entire family.
A Holiday Dream opens Friday, December 12 with a 7:30 show and Saturday and Sunday the 13th and 14th with shows at 2:00 p.m. Each performance is preceeded by cookies and milk and other holiday treats and activities for the children. The Friday night show is our annual Pajama Night, when the audience is invited to attend in warm holiday p.j.'s.

DLT hosts 2nd Annual One Act Invitational
Dalton Little Theatre is pleased to once again host the areas High School One Act Invitational, featuring the best of the local high school drama programs. Dalton , Northwest, Southeast, and Murray County High Schools will present their one act productions that were recently performed as a part of the Georgia High School One Act Play Competition. The Invitational is set for Saturday, December 6 at the Presby Place Stage (First Presbyterian Church).
The Invitational will run "festival style" with audience members purchasing one ten dollar arm band that will allow them to see all four show throughout the day. Proceeds from the Invitational will benefit the schools' drama departments.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to see our area's brightest performers. Dalton Little Theatre is pleased to present this show in cooperation with out corporate sponsors: Shaw Industries, The Wachovia Foundation, J&J Industries, Peds Care, Dart Drugs, and Dr. Reginald Sherrill. We hope that everyone will come and support these young people and this inaugural event," shared Margaret Zeisig, DLT Board Chair.
Armband tickets may be purchased from each of the high schools' drama clubs, The Creative Arts Guild and the United Way. Doors will open at 11:00 and then again 15 minutes before each performance. Northwest performs at 11:30, Southeast at 1:00, Dalton High at 2:30 and Murray County at 4:00 p.m.

Angel Street: A dark thriller
Dalton Little Theatre’s latest production, Angel Street, is a dark thriller you won’t want to miss. The play, the basis for the movie Gaslight, focuses on the relationship of Jack Mannigham and his young wife Bella. Jack is attempting to slowly drive his wife mad, but the appearance of a new man in the home may thwart his efforts. Or, it Bella just imagining things? Angel Street will have you on the edge of your seat. The show, directed by Jackie Daniels, opens Thursday, November 6 and runs through November 8 and then again November 13-15 with shows at 8:00 p.m. There will also be a Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. on November 9. Advanced reservations are suggested.

Make a Difference Day
Dalton Little Theatre is thrilled to be a recipient of a Make a Difference Day grant. Our project is Theater Refurbishing and Rummage Sale. On Oct 25, we will have a rummage sale starting at 7:00 am and begin the deep cleaning of the theater and storage areas. Many hands make light work and we invite anyone to come and help us bring the beauty of the theater to life. Dalton Little Theatre's mission is to entertain and educate audiences, participants and the community through a broad spectrum of theatrical opportunities.
Dalton Little Theatre, DLT, is celebrating 139 years of existence. With its first documented performance in 1869, the organization began as The Dalton Amateurs, and continued as The Sophoclean Dramatic Club, and The Dalton Players, before becoming Dalton Little Theatre in 1955. It performed continuously except for breaks for WWI and WWII. The organization formally incorporated in 1958, and found its first home in 1981 when it converted the former firehouse built in 1888 into The Firehouse Theatre, where it has been since.
The Dalton Little Theatre raffle and rummage sale. Pentz Street, Downtown Dalton. Saturday, October 25. 7am-3pm. All raffle tickets are $1 and raffle items include a beautiful nylon rug valued @ $500, printed rug, night out including dinner and a movie for 2, and much more. Rummage sale items include household and children's items, electronics, books, etc. There will be something for everyone.
